In the legal definition of an invention, it can be said to be the creation of an idea using the laws of nature, and in a narrower scope, it means “a description” of a creative idea using the laws of nature. Attitude in dealing with creative ideas would be as follows

  1) Be at ease

  2) Think freely

  3) Be curious

  4) Imitate

  5) Note

1. Theory of Creative Thinking

1) Wallace's 4 stages of creation process are: the preparation stage for perceiving a problem, ans analyzing the problem from various angles, incubation phase where or until when ideas for a solution pops up, expression phase where a solution is found, and validation phase where a verification of the solution is conducted.

2) Rosmann's 7 Steps consist of: observation of a problem, analysis of needs, search, creation of all subjective ideas, critical analysis of the ideas, creation of new ideas, then finally validation of the ideas.

3) Paybun's 7 stages are the desire stage, preparation stage, the manipulation stage and the incubation stage. The last consists of a suggestive phase, an illumination phase, and a verification phase.

4) Dewey's 5 stages consist of difficulty, clear definition of the problem, emergence of possible solutions, analysis of the possible solutions, and verification of solutions.

5) Osborne's 7 stages are composed of a dicision making for how to find a solution, a preparation stage, an analysis stage, an idea formation stage, a deliberation stage, a synthesis stage, and an evaluation stage.

6) Taylor's level of creativity 5 levels are intuitive level, academic and technical level, invention level, innovative level, and finally the creative level with genius characteristics.

2. Invention technique

1) Brainstorming Technique: Brainstorming is a kind of meeting technique in which about a dozen people sit at a table and come up with ideas. There are several rules for meetings:

  i) You must not evaluate or criticize the ideas created.

ii) Any ideas should be accepted and the more ideas the better.

iii) You should try to get innovative ideas by accommodating various ideas.

In the case of a leader, it is effective if a leader considers a specific problem from various angles, systematically separates the problem, presents only one problem, and informs the participants in advance about two days before the brainstorming session.

2) Checklist Method (SCAMPER)

It means Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify (Magnify, Minimize), Put to other use, Eliminate, Reverse (Rearrange). As the acronym represents, it is a way of inventing by substituting, combinding, adapting, modifying, and etc.

3) STH (Six Thinking Hats) method

It means six colored hats, that is, six different viewpoints. It is a suitable method for exploring ideas from different viewpoints.

4) Gordon's Law

Gordon's Law is a method of finding a specific solution by starting with a broad approach to a problem and directly relating the solution to the problem.

5) Synetics Technique

Synetics technique is a method of making inventions through direct analogy, righteous analogy, symbolic analogy, and fantasy analogy.

6) TRIZ method: It is a technique that seeks the fundamental resolution of contradictions. The 40 invention principles (invention creation technique) of the TRIZ invention technique are as follows:

Segmentation, extraction, local quality, asymmetry, time or space consolidation, multi functional, nesting, counter weight, preliminary counter action, preliminary action, preliminary compensation, equipotential, inversion, spheroidal, flexibility, excess or partial or excessive, dimension change, vibration, periodic action, continuity of useful action, skipping, convert from harmful to useful, feedback, intermediate, self-service, copying, disposable, replacing mechanical system, pneumatic and hydraulic, flexible shell and thin film, porous material, color change, homogeneity, discarding and recovering, parameter change, phase transition, thermal expansion, use of strong oxidizers, inert environments, and composite material

7) ASIT method: The ASIT (Advanced systematic inventive thinking) method is a simplified invention technique of the TRIZ method, and the principles of the ASIT invention method are as follows: unification, multiplication, division, and symmetry breaking, and removal.

8) Inventogram: Inventogram is an in-between invention technique that supplements the simplicity of ASIT. The 18 principles of invention are as follows:

add, subtract, increase or decrease, change in shape, location movement, duplication, material change, phase change, separation, symmetry, Asymmetry, preparation, reversal, period change, alignment, out of alignment, alteration of use, environmental change, and conditional function.
